I think they are both very significant but I side with Michael simply because I think he is a better singer and performer. It is often sid that he broke down the artificial barriers created by the music industry between black and white artists with his groundbraking music videos, most especially 'Beat It' with the two warring gangs. He was really the artist that brought black forms of music into the mainstream popular music scene on MTV in the early 80s. Before he arrived they wouldn't even play music by black artists, I believe. They both have led tragic lives and it just goes to show how destructive fame and fortune can be to often shy, reclusive and eccentric people.

I'd say Elvis did all that back in his day.

Cool

I think it's great that you are comparing such musical legends, but I would pick MJ no matter what simply because of his incredible dancing, music, videos and singing voice...
He's the only musical artist to have had such a huge impact on me. I never really liked music before I heard Michael's.
Michael had more passion to do what he did... and is so strong to carry on through everything in the present years.

Also because I'm a Michael Jackson fan!

... so when exactly IS this fight? Did Don King organize it? Was it hard digging up Elvis and bringing him back to life?

I'll say Michael simply because i actually own his albums, whereas in Elvis' case, it's more on a minor level.

This is one of those questions I can't answer because I know they both made great contributions to the music industry, but personally I don't like either artist's music all that much.

Though I have to admit generationally Michael Jackson is the one I relate to most. He's a year older than I am so I grew up with his music.

Still, Elvis is the original...oh well....

I'm not sure music fans who only know the Vegas Elvis realize how much "edge" he had when he first broke onto the scene. He was dangerous...his sound was wild...he was the original punk, only with talent.

Also, it's difficult to appreciate how daring Elvis was compared to any white musician before him when you've had a steady diet of soft-porn music videos for all your life.
