I can't think of a better man to write it.
But really, that order is crap. But it seems most anything once associated with good music or good music itself is going down these days....

i thought it was supposed to be some sort of tribute issue... whatever... the ONLY bio/essay/thing that i'd like to read is vernon reid's thoughts on nirvana... it seems like the only one that wouldn't have any 'this band was so influential to me in my youth' stuff...

I hate Rolling Stone, and they managed to increase my hate with another stupid list. Im surprised they didn't put Justin Timberlake at number 1.

Here's a link to the actual articles. Many of these guys can write decent lyrics but they are terrible at writing in prose.

Quote:
I thought Maureen Tucker had a cool voice, as well as being a really cool drummer. She had a femininity. I thought she sounded hotter than Nico.

I agree with him, but in reality Nico was better looking than Moe.

Quote:
The Chili Peppers get offers all the time to sell songs for commercials and tour sponsorships, and our manager says it's not considered selling out anymore. It's the smart move, he says. Maybe we could whore ourselves out for the right price someday. I don't know. But I always think, "Would Neil Young do this?" And the answer is no. Neil Young wouldn't fuckin' do it.
This cracked me up. I love flea.

I've only read a few articles so far, but overall I'd say it's an entertaining read... even if it's not for the reasons Rolling Stone intended.

Lou Reed speakin about David Bowie:
Quote:
I really love what David does, so I'm happy that he's still doing it and that he's still interested. I saw him play here in New York on his last tour, and it was one of the greatest rock shows I've ever seen. At least as far as white people go. Seriously.
What the hell does that mean?!??

i liked the list the beatles are the greatest in my opinion public enemy should not be in the list and since john lennon is there, paul mccartney should be there and george harrison too instead of run dmc they are no rock group and harrsion and mccartney made great music
