Whats with all the hate for Big Loada? That disk is so bong.

I do like Big Loada, but what's the hate for HND so much? it's jazzy and funky as hell and was one of the first albums to use that style (if you exclude the Feed Me Weird Things album)

I personally think that Hasty Boom Alert > Brace Yourself Jason

Hmm... really? HBA > BYJ? IMO HBA >/< BYJ. Maybe BS > HBA, but BS < BYJ. Then, PR > BS, but PR < BYJ. Either way, BYJ > PR/BS/HND. Its a tough call though. Ya know?

Yeah I dont hate HND, but its just not everything that the critics make it cracked up to be. Loada has tons more good tracks on it, is more focused, and better overall.

I still disagree on this, but hey, you have your own opinion

did you listen to it in 97'? I think you just don't appreciate the jazz elements it has, I think you're more into the jungle/drill n' bass stylings but I could be assuming wrong, as usual.

I was into jazz before I was into electronic music. When HND came out I felt like they exaggerated the 'jazz' elements that it contained. At that time, the word 'jazzy' was applied to anything that had some deep synthesizer work on it. I liked the drill and bass, and those characteristic analog synths (like in beep street, or brace yourself), and I never considered HND as having remotely to do with jazz. Tom might have appropriated some cliches from jazz but he never developed anything seriously until Rotted came out. THAT album is deserving of the title, I dont think that HND is.

comparisons are made of different projects of course.

Back to Basics > Links Berge Rechts Seen

but

Links Berge Rechts Seen > Slow Motion Process

concluding that Back to Basics > Slow Motion Process.

brace yourself jason totally rips off a journey to reedham (just listen to how similar the two are). u-ziq himself has pretty much admitted to taking []pushers drill'n bass style and turning it into lunatic harness. all credit to mike p (lunatic harness is possibly the best idm of 97) but []pusher was doing that sound before him (and plug before []pusher)!!

who the hell are you and where have you been???? damn man, I like you already. You think exactly like me.

Ok, Luke Vibert as Plug did come out with the Plug EP's in the mid 90's, slightly before Squarepusher's did, and let me stress slightly because i'm not sure when he actually did the whole Buzz Caner stuff along with the 12" on Spymania. Possibly Luke created a small foundation of what started drill n' bass and Squarepusher (with Hard Normal Daddy or maybe even Feed Me Weird Things) perfected it. It's amazing how Squarepusher's early albums were ALL made on analogue equipment.
