No, chris, algernon is dead on right. Sammy Davis, Jr. was a much better singer than Sinatra. Have you ever heard their duet of "Me And My Shadow" from the Sands live recordings? Sammy whips Frankie's butt on that one.

I have to say I think that Bowie would definitely be in the running.

No thank you. You know, chris, you're getting more arrogant around here than Matthew Gill at his worst (and Matthew's getting kind of civil these days, come to think of it)...one has to work pretty hard to manage that. I'm getting a little tired of it, myself.

If you're going to debate a point, tell me why you think I'm wrong...and don't hurl a bunch of out-of-control expletives at me and expect me to take you seriously.

I prefer Sinatra's "phrasing" better then Sammy's.. But, I have heard dozens of Sinatra songs and only a handful by Sammy so I am not really qualified to debate it...

Greatest entertainer,,, hmmmmm,, that is tough... I guess if we are talking stage shows then Sammy is often listed as among the greatest... But if we talk crossover talent then Sinatra may get a nod or two (he did win an Oscar).. Or what about Rita Moreno... And scores of vaudaville singers/entertainers.... The parameters just seem too wide for me to choose...

I am sure if you get some real old timers in here they could list scores of great song and dance performers who were great...
