best drum solo

What is the best drum solo/interlude you've ever heard?

This is the best I have...last night I went to see Primus in Ashville North Carolina, and Tim Alexander went all out in a drum solo that was somewhere between 15-20 minutes long. It was great.

merry christmas everybody - slade has a pretty sloppy but pretty good drum solo, also greenday's version of my genaration by the who has quite a good one. Also moon the loon can get into some pretty wickid drum beats !!!!

I've seen and heard plenty of drummers, and I find that most professionals are capable of doing all sorts of mad-flashy stuff. But I respect drummers who stay in the lines of their music. For example. Ringo Starr was a great drummer, but he rarely did anything outside that steady beat.

Best drumming I've ever heard, though, has come from Mike Portnoy if Dream Theater. Absolutely unreal. I started to drool as soon as I saw his 3-bass drum TAMA kit with a wide assortment of Sabians...but his doubles on the bass and ghost notes are simply unbelievable.

Dave Grohl in Queens Of The Stone Age's "No One Knows". He goes insane in the middle of that song!

Also At The Drive-In's "Shaking Hand Incision" is a pretty good drumming track.

Anyone heard of Terry Boznio? or Bosio or something like that? His drum kit is 16 feet long and each drum/cymbal was specially made by DW. We listened to him in our Music History class, and the teacher and a student said Portnoy would have to sit down at least for a day to do the things he did.

, i beg to differ about portnoy. he's not a flashy drummer, and a lot of people say he is...just because he has kickass fills. but to be able to throw doubles in there and still operate in insane time signatures is unreal. portnoy has i believe 28 sabian cymbals, a custom sabian line, and a massive tama kit...and his live performance is unbeatable.

billy cobham is good too. go buy a mahavishnu orchestra album, you wont regret it

CanadianDrummer...haver you heard the Terry guy(not sure about his last name)? He could switch from crazy time signatures in a heartbeat. His drum kit was far bigger than I have ever seen Portnoy's. This guy doesn't play with a band, he "got kicked out of all of his because no one could keep up", and he is 53. His shows are supposedly sold out as well, people come just to see him. He is FAR better than Portnoy. Download something from him if you can find anything. I'll try to clarify the last name sometime.
