The Radio Station is YOURS for One Hour!...what'll you play?

This kind of thread was very popular at another music forum I used to frequent, so let's try it here...

The idea is, put together roughly an hour of music for what you would consider the ideal radio station...what you would program if you were in charge and were the DJ for one hour. Then let someone else have the next hour. Feel free to post more than once, but don't post more than one hour of music at a time, and then let at least one person do their "hour" before you post again.

Have fun. Use your imagination. Be a world-class DJ...I'll start it off...

Welcome to Reverend Rock's Eclectic Music Hour! Relax and enjoy a program of classic rock and pop, rarities and obscurities! We'll start with a jammin' slice of latin-influenced hippie music from the band that opened at Woodstock...

*"Just For You" by Sweetwater
*"Kiss From A Rose" by Seal
*"'Til I Die" by the Beach Boys
*"Genesis" by Quah
*"Constant Craving" by k. d. lang
*"I'll Follow The Sun" by the Beatles
*"Crab Dance" by Cat Stevens
*"Turn, Turn, Turn" by the Byrds
*"Someone To Watch Over Me" by Ella Fitzgerald
*"We're Just Friends" by Donna Michael (and independent artist who is a friend of mine)
*"Rumors Of Glory" by Bruce Cockburn
*"Afoxe Para O Bloco do Ile" by Caetano Veloso
*"It Was A Very Good Year" by Frank Sinatra
*"Young Love" by Mary Hopkin
*"Route 66" by the Nat King Cole Trio

OK, the Rev's gonna vacate the chair now and let another of the radiomute congregation spin the platters for an hour...

Why not make your own radio station?

http://www.shoutcast.com/ < there ya go ^_^

I also believe there's a hack for Vbulletin where you can have all the user's radios on a task bar.

Seems appropriate for a music forum

Here's my first round:

1) "Maris" - Stellamara [5:16]
2) "Anti, Matter" - Haujobb [4:28]
3) "Herr Gott Nun Schleub Den Himmel Auf, BWV 1092" - Johann Sebastian Bach [2:22]
4) "How Can I Miss You If You Won't Go Away" - Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks [2:39]
5) "Cleas Bounce" - Jeff Gauthier [7:14]
6) "World Of Lies" - At The Gates [3:35]
7) "Skypager" - A Tribe Called Quest [3:35]
8) "Wrapped Up In Love Again" - Albert King [2:21]
9) "Desert Search For Techno Allah" - Mr. Bungle [5:24]
10) "Shadow Puppeteer" - Julie Tippetts [4:49]
11) "O Eternal God" - Hildegard Von Bingen [2:28]
12) "Sold To The Higest Buddha" - Gong [4:24]
13) "Cornish Acid" - Aphex Twin [2:14]
14) "Tea Harvest" - Lei Qiang [2:20]
15) "I'll Come Running" - Brian Eno [3:50]
16) "Blues For Django And Stephane" - Larry Coryell [5:24]
17) "Inner Mind Mystique 1" - Masonna [3:53]

And that's one hour's worth...this is actually something I do quite a bit for mix discs. Given my extensive collection it's fun to lay down as many genres as possible, arranging songs in such a manner as to make it disorienting to the listener.

It's always entertaining when certain classes I'm enrolled in allow us to bring in music...

Yep, thats exactly what I do when putting songs on my mp3 player, since it can only hold 2 hours and 10 mintues. I just choose a buch of great songs from tons of different genres. Makes it so I can go much longer without having to change the songs again.

And I always have fun when classes allow me to bring in some music to share with the class. I did that last year with my german class. I grabed a buch of german bands stuck them on a CD and brought them in the next day. The teacher didn't let it get through the 3 song. The frist two where more of a dark folk, but the thrid was a german Black Metal band called Dornenreich, which I guess she didn't like much.

Anyway, back on track here.

The Grey Field Recordings - Wait in Silence (5:25)
Dark Sanctuary - Les Entrailles De Ce Purgatoir (7:05)
Mediaeval Baebes - Undrentide.mp3 (4:48)
Evoken - Coveting Elysium (10:48)
Pentagram - Review Your Choices (2:57)
End of Green - Death In Veins (5:06)
Orange Goblin - Rage of Angels (4:26)
Tiamat - Church of Tiamat (4:52)
Nargaroth - Nargaroth (3:01)
White Willow - Snowfall (6:30)
Unholy - Languish For Bliss (4:40)
I do that too...on real player rhapsody...but I thought this would be a fun little thread. It's about getting to see what people would do with an hour of old-fashioned airtime, given the chance...

Great thread... I did this for real for several years online at live365...

My playlist was a mix of common and obscure rock with a heavier mix of psychedelic and neo-psychedelic rock...

For this thread I will start off with a very basic start... The very first music I would play on a newly created eclectic station for my first hour would be simple... I would first put on "Forever Changes" by Love in sequence, and I would follow that (to round out the hour) with side one of "The Inner Mystique" by The Chocolate Watchband... I would finish up with "I am The Walrus" by The Beatles...

1. Alone Again Or (MacLean) - 3:15
2. A House Is Not a Motel (Lee) - 3:25
3. Andmoreagain (Lee/MacLean) - 3:15
4. The Daily Planet (Lee) - 3:25
5. Old Man (MacLean) - 2:57
6. The Red Telephone (MacLean) - 4:45
7. Maybe the People Would Be the Times or... (Lee) - 3:30 8. Live and Let Live (Lee) - 5:24
9. The Good Humor Man He Sees Everything Like (Lee) 3:00 10. Bummer in the Summer (Lee) - 2:20
11. You Set the Scene (Lee) - 6:49
-------------------------------
12. Voyage of the Trieste (Cobb) - 3:38
13. In the Past (Proctor) - 3:06
14. Inner Mystique (Cobb) - 5:35

15. I am The Walrus (Lennon)

Good thread! - I'd lose a lot of listeners but what the heck an hour of self indulgence!!!! - and promotion of my taste in music. - I'll add the times later!!!!

1. The Fountain of Salamancis - Genesis.
2.The narrow way part2 - Pink Floyd.
3.See-saw - Pink Floyd.
3.Bjork - Come to me.
4.Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
5.Sail to the moon - Radiohead
6.Where do I begin - Andy Williams
7.Shadow of the Heirophant - Steve Hackett.
8. Street Spirit - Radiohead.

....a lot of the lesser demanding happy go lucky listeners may need councelling after......I like it melancholic!

I suppose if I was after a job with the station I'd be a little more considerate and varied.

It's nice Matthew...that you accually use songs I've heard of. It's just I currently have no music finder so I kinda have to go by what I hear ABOUT a song that I haven't heard than accually what the song sounds like.
