I forgot to add, that the Bix tribute starts right after the Ornette Coleman tribute (which is on right now) at 12a.m. EST tonight. And don't forget the 2 week Coltrane Festival that starts right after the Bix tribute ends tomorrow at 12am.

For those outside the U.S. that's aprox. 2hrs and 40 minutes from this post.

He was born 3-10-1903 and died 8-6-1931 at the age of 28.

He is in a long line of musical geniuses who died an early and tragic death. He would have been 101.

The Kirk Douglas film Young Man with a Horn is a Hollowedized semi-autobiographical telling of Bix's life.

I loved to see that movie. It's sad that so many geniuses die so young, they could contribute to music a lot more if they didn't.
