Just finished listening both the recordings of Tschaikowsky 4th symphony by Riccardo Muti. Neither Philharmonia's nor Philadelphia's is excellent, but the latter is a little better.

In the liner notes, it says that when they played the second movement from Quartet No. 10, the amount of raw Russian energy generated caused all the cupolas on nearby buildings to rotate! Weird.

I know this is one of those "required listening" CDs. When I was a kid, Mr. T used to come on between cartoons and pity the fool who doesn't have the Szell/Fleisher Beethoven recordings.
