Shostakovich / String Quartets 2 & 3 / Borodin String Quartet
Why are these damn recordings out of print?
What kind of fucked up world do we live in?

Fortunately, it's like Beethoven's fifth...only recognized by most peeps until the first 8 bars are over.
You ever skip track no. 1 on CD recordings of Also sprach Zarathustra for this reason? At least the Fritz Reiner CD doesn't come with a damn picture of outer space on the cover. It predates the movie, but I still wouldn't put it past a marketing exec to milk the association anyway.

Let's not forget musical horror rule number 2. Carl Orff's, "O'Fortuna," from Carmina Burana.

Actually, I think that would be #3 after Beethoven's 9th.

Played by Shostakovich and the Beethoven String Quartet
Sadly, my only recording of the Beethoven String Quartet.
