There is a really great Israeli artist called Dikla. Her voice is incredible. I don't know Hebrew, but she moved me to tears on one of her tracks. Her album is called Ahava, Musica (love, music). I couldn't find anything on google to show you, but I'll keep looking.

Here are two Zorn related sites.
Covers all John Zorn recording projects
Covers Zorn's Masada Projects
Just be warned for those going to the first site. Several of the cover work on Zorn's Painkiller and Naked City recordings can be graphic.
And for anyone that buys these recordings, the artwork inside is also graphic.
So if you are offended by these types of pictures be warned.

Great to hear some suggestions. No problem listening to stuff nobody hears though Gaom just won an award in Israel btw.
I hear that he is a talk show host today in Israel. He's from the old times but he's still great. Here's a link on him:

ok If you realy want to know I guess you are not from Israel. he was popular in the 60's 70's and now he host a TV show here and to me and my generation he is kind of a joke now. He had a great voice 40 years ago and now 70 year old women likes him a lot. If you are looking for an Israely music : search for Aviv Gefen he got an album now with Brian Wilson and it's calld "blackfield".

No one has mentioned Ofra Haza yet? She has a beautiful voice. Or had...she died in 2000. Some of her songs are really cheesy 80s stuff, not well produced, but it's worth it just to hear her voice. She was an Israeli of Yemeni descent. I think some of her songs are in Hebrew and some are in a Yemenite dialect but I am not 100% sure.
Also, I've heard a lot about Subliminal and the Shadow - Israeli rap.

I just listened back to Gaom's album this afternoon, and yeah, it's kind of "obscurro", but I rather enjoyed it. It was very relaxing and sweet music.
Having said that, I'd be very interested in learning more about these artists you. What is the music of Idan Rycel or Ivry Leader like? Could you describe it for me?

I was thinking of Ofra Haza! Glad you mentioned her. She is somebody that I really want to listen to soon. I am planning on buying her disc set. I think she was like the first Israeli to go international or something groundbreaking like that.
