YMSS are amazing!, kinda american indie/post rock crossover + the artwork is fantastic, that black winter sky did turn to great white clouds of hope and majesty for silver mt. zion and it will again on december 6th!

does anyone like amusement parks on fire ?

i really dont like mogwai for some reason. they sound like an awkward imitation of their predecessors

Considering that the band was in its late teens when Young Team was released, I think you can forgive them somewhat.

Also, they burst on the seen in 1996, hardly so far into the 'post-rock' game to be completely derivitive. (( although the heavy Slint influence is pretty obvious ))

I give them some credit for spawning quite a bit of decent imitation bands like Mono, Explosions In The Sky, Tristeza, etc...

you're right, I didn't know that, and I can forgive them. but just as a side note, i'm pretty sure slint were also in their late teens! thats a pretty ridiculous standard to be held up to though

blah : i was just wonderin'... how much mogwai have u heard? in other words, have u heard their more recent stuff (eg happy songs)? imho, they've come a long, long way since young team. but then, i enjoyed their early albums anyway.

i wouldnt say mogwai were that much like slint even when they made young team, the texture is similar and the feeling is there but the actual style is quite differant.
