I've just come across this awesome post-rock band. I'm not too familiar with the bands in this genre but they sound somewhat similar to Explosions in the Sky(at least to me ). Both their releases are great. Check out the song 'Singlesparks are Spectral Fires' by them and give me your opinions.

They are a bit louder than most post-rock, which is probably why I like them so much.

Why in hell do you want to lump all the post-rock threads together?
C'mon, most people who listen to avantgrade/experimental also like post-rock. And this section is hardly two pages long. Its not like you have to dig through it for hours to find anything.

In general, I try to keep the section organized and clutter-free...sorry if this bothers you...

My first post and two cents...

Hello everyone!

I am new here, and this thread caught my eye (post rock being one of my favourite styles)

I really enjoy Mogwai, particularly the "Young Team" and "Happy Songs.." albums.
I really like Explosions in the sky, though I find that the "Those who tell the truth..." album reminds me of Young Team a lot.

Check out Do Make Say Think, Fly Pan Am, B. Fleischman for some other good stuff. Mono is cool too.

I am completely into Explosions in the Sky "The earth is not a cold dead place", and entirely recommend that if you get the chance you must see them, I was moved to tears.

There seems to be a view that post rock should be quiet - I really don't agree with that at all.

Other recommendations:

Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies: Mini LP "Hurrah! Another year, surely this one will be better than the last; the inexorable march of progress will lead us all to happiness ..."

Lightning Bolt:
Get anything you can by them, this is the most exciting thing I've heard for ages, the DVD is great for an insight into the live experience. One drummer and one Bass (bottom string is a guitar string).
