Their later stuff is dominated by Dino Valente.. While his stuff is good, I think they were a bit better before he re-joined (he was in jail when they first started recording, although they did record some of his songs without him)...

The first album is great. There is also a really good anthology called Sons Of Mercury if you want to go that route.

Awesome man... They may be an acquired taste, but I really dig them... Especially John Cippolina's lead guitar work...

The Chocolate Watchband...holy hell, dudes I'm thinkin I probably shouldn't have voted so hastily on this poll man. Jefferson Airplane's real groovy for sure, but I'm diggin all these other musicians. Love the Rolling Stones, and these Chocolate dudes have a similar sound with the r&b, sneer rock. "I Miss Love", what a gorgeous tune.

I am a HUGE Watchband fan... They are probably my favorite non-mega known band in rock history (well, maybe not the biggest, but top 5 for sure)...

Have you delved into their trippier studio musician tunes yet??? Check out the song "In The Past" if you haven't yet (to get a taste of how great they were)...

I can't get myself to enjoy the Watchband, or QMS for that matter. Both of the bands just seem so..... 'average'. In fact QMS sound pretty derivative in my opinion. I like bands that carve out their own niche, or at least seem like there's some impetus for their musical output. Not trying to insult them for sure, I just don't enjoy them particularly.

I can understand that when it comes to the Watchband,, they were derivative (I just like that road they were following the masters on. As I do with scores of other Stones and Beatle wannabees)... But Quicksilver sounds fresh and unique to me (especially Cippolina's guitar work)...

"In The Past" is rad dude! I heard a couple more tunes from the Inner Mystique, love the raw, garage-punk covers of "I'm Not Like Everybody Else", "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue", "Medication". Thanks dude, I love you man, The Chocolates are wicked.
