Suede
Suede are no more. time to sift through the ashes and give our final critiques on one of Britain's greatest bands. ofcourse, being a huge Morrissey fan [a huge Suede fan himself], iloved Suede. ican see where they would rub some the wrong way, but those people are wrong anyway. beautiful music, beautiful lyrics, Beautiful Ones- there is everything to love here.
Suede was also kind of a story of two bands when, after two stunning albums, the great Bernard Butler left the band. their sound was never the same, but hardly no less appealing [maybe even moreso for some]. state your preference- were you Bret fan anyway or did you always miss Bernard?
Why did Suede [along with many great Brit bands] never break America? personally, ibelieve it is juste due to the far more conservative mainstream tastes of American music listeners who would rather drain their brains to Slipknot or some other mindless defecation of noise- but perhaps others may hav other explainations?
im not including Sci-Fi Lullabies in the poll as it is a b-sides collection and not a proper album, but feel free to gush over this compilation as well.
hey, maybe theyre juste pullin a Cure and we'll see them again ina couple of years [fingers crossed].

Right dude, Brit music is hard to listen to...makes you think. And the man Brett Anderson's voice takes a while to get into.
I'm goin with their first album, Suede...So Young, Animal Nitrate, Metal Mickey...loved it. Suede was cool as shit, one of the best Brit pop bands around. Its a shame dude that they're no more.

i never got into suede much myself, but i do like the stuff that bernard has done since on his own, so maybe i should check suede out sometime...
the brit bands could never have done well in america, i think one important reaon is that brit bands are about britain. if you listne to any of the brit bands, the lyrics are all about british life and culture, so i cant see how the american culture would be able to relate to it. for example, blur's modern life album, or early oasis.

ok ok i admit...
the second vote was belonging to me for the great Coming Up, but didn't know what i might comment being in a serious thinking for a while...
Suede (still) is one of my special bands. Unfortunately haven't got their eponymous and Sci-Fi albums yet but i got the rest. All are beautiful albums, except the New Morning, it smells quite commercial and compulsory being the last Suede album
Dog Man Star, Coming Up and Head Music are excellent w/in the beautiful lyrics and Brett's profound way of singing!!!
and i'm terribly feeling sorry that they disappear,
but as he says,
everything will flow...

the accent of icelandic words falls in almost all cases on the first syllable. the exceptions are
1.words that have the negative prefix "ó-" meaning "un-" as in "unwilling" eg óhreinindi
2.words that have the prefix "all-" meaning "rather" or "very" eg allfeginn
in these two cases, the accent falls equally on the first two syllables or mainly on the second syllable.

everyone writes about where they come from, dont they? imean, bobdylan sang about America, thebeatles sang about England. some root their lyrical content much deeper in their home surrounding much moreso than others, but where you come from still will always hav a significant effect on your art.
ithink that a lota great non-American music doesnt get picked up on the U.S. radar cos Americans as a people and a society are very inward- they tend not to look very far beyond their borders. aready being sucha massive and diverse country this is made easier but it is a real shame cos they miss out ona lot. idig the posistion in Canada from a spectators point of view.

america does, and always has, kept itself to itself, in many issues, not just music, so your're right in that respect. british music has such a difficult time in america principally because of the vast size of america. however i still maintain that a large amount of british indie would simply not be understood by american culture, as the two countries are so different.
there's plenty of american artists that do well over here though, some great, some shit...in the mainstream pop market, american influence has a huge effect on british pop, but i keep my distance from from all that mundane pop crap!
