bad sound, speed solo

I dont know what to do anymore, i think the problem is my new amp, iv been playing guitar for years and im about ready to burn it all.

I just got a new used Peavey renown 400 and when playing threw my GNX1 ((i can't get the sound to work right on any of my speed demon solos, it just sounds like shit.)) iv tryed all i know, what do i need to check, what am i doing wrong?? i (with my Guitar) get a grate sound with anyone ealses setup, so i ask questions but ther all just starting out and dont know a dam thing about how anything works and are just luckey thave got the right sound to work with. Im tired of going to friends houses to play and practice. i havent used my GNX1 on their amps yet and im unable to barowe one of their amps or fxs right now, to pinpoint my problem, so i came here.

Is it my Amp or is it my GNX1? Please help fix my problem.

a few quick questions first

what sort of setup do your friends typically use?
are they using tube or solid state amps? (HUGE tone difference... especially once the tubes warm up)...
are they using multi-effects units like your GNX or individual pedals?

personally i'd bring the GNX to your friends house with your guitar and try it out next time you visit... could just be the default presets that suck (like they always do)... while there i'd also write down their amp settings and try those out on the peavey... but odds are you've got some quality time with the GNX technical manual waiting for you... if you bought it used and don't have the manual...

just so you know... it's a 7mb download so you've got lots of reading ahead... heheh
