R.E.M.

let's hear what everyone has to say about alt-pioneers, Rapid Eye Movement.

Very hard to pick a favorite...I think I'll just go with their latest outing "Reveal". I really like that one a lot. Among my other favorites by R.E.M. are "Life's Rich Pageant", "Document", "Green", "Out Of Time" and "Automatic For The People". I guess I go for their "poppier" side.

I've only heard Up and Automatic For The People, so I guess I can't really give an answer... I liked both, but apparently not enough to buy them... New Adventures In Hi-Fi has one of my favourite songs of R.E.M. though: "Electrolite"....

I can listen to the following R.E.M. albums without getting too bored:

Reckoning
Fables Of The Reconstruction
Life's Rich Pageant
Dead Letter Office (which includes the Chronic Town EP)

Overall I don't like Murmur very much, except for a few select songs. R.E.M. started to lose me with Document, and they went very quickly downhill from there. I know everyone thinks Automatic for the People was some great comeback, but I honestly can't stand it.

And you're a dime-a-dozen fanboy with store bought taste in music.

Since R.E.M. is my favorite band it's hard to choose. I like 'em all. I went with Automatic For The People in the end. It was either that or Document.

I agree Dead Letter Office was a cool album. I enjoyed their version of Femme Fatale and Toys In The Attic.

You're right, that was amateur of me to stoop to his level, but he deserved the comment. I realize that he's just trying to stir up yet another one of his many flame wars. It's sad actually, and I would feel sorry for him if he wasn't such an arrogant dipshit. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

The reason I post here, and I think I speak for most people, is that it's a forum in which to express opinions about music free from personal attack. Chris defies this basic principle on a constant basis. I've seen him personally attack you, Rev, and many other people on this site, just because they don't happen to share his narrow opinions on music. It's one thing to debate music, it's another to call someone names and question their intelligence when they don't happen to like the same albums or artists as you. To me, that's clueless.
