The new one The Whispering Wall is terrific, much stronger than the All the King's Horses/All the King's Men. They'll never "recapture" the magic specific to earlier albums such as Asylum and The Maria Dimension.
Another favorite of mine among the later period Dots is Nemesis Online

I really liked All the King's Horses, but I wasn't that keen on it's sister album, I don't really think they had enough material for two full albums. The only other recent-ish LPD album I've got is "A Perfect Mistery", which is probably the worst album I've heard by them, it sounds really contrived and tired. Asylum is probably my all-time favourite LPD, there's more ideas and tunes on that one album than most bands manage in a career.
Anyway, now listening to:
Shinjuku Thief - The Scribbler
Dark ambient kinda thing, based around Franz Kafka's "The Trial"

I'm the opposite. I liked "All the King's Men" better. I agree, "A Perfect Mystery" was perfectly miserable.
My three list favorite LPD full-lengths are:
1. Curse
2. Island of Jewels
3. A Perfect Mystery
"Asylum" does seem to be universally regarded as one of their best, and I can see why! I think it's a culminationof all the best things about LPD 1980-1985.
I feared LPD would turn into a hippie jam band with Soft Machine leanings. I don't have to like everything they do, just as long as they don't do THAT!

You mean from "Seuil de Silences"?
empreintes DIGITALes issued three great Dolden discs last year, all archival material remastered by Paul himself.
Donkey: Big Sur
An Accretions release.
Electroacoustic noisescapes by Hans Fjellestad and Damon Holzborn. Dumb name, great music!
