They went in a kind of post-rock direction for their last two albums, melancholy jazz-tinged affairs. Not massively experimental, but fairly ahead of their time.

Anyway, I'm listening to Legendary Pink Dots - Cantas Mientra Puedas

You could call "Laughing Stock" experimental in a drony prog-rock kind of way. I prefer the synth-pop Talk Talk and the "Colours of Spring" album. "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock" seemed like a deliberate attempt to kill their previous pop image and go way out there on the moody progressive edge. It would have worked if those records hadn't been so boring, IMHO.
I did like Harris & Webb's O-Rang material. Mark Hollis put out a solo record in the mid-'90s, but it was basically a rehash of Talk Talk with a few original tracks. A real snoozer.

A good introduction to '90 to '95 LPD, "Cantas Minetra Puedas" (Spanish for LPD's motto, "Sing While You May") was a purported follow up to the "Stone Circles Anthology," (1987), which was a summary of early LPD styles. "Cantas" is extaneous if you have the albums, however.

Morton Subotnick: Trembling
Robert Davidovici: Violin
Adam Wodnick: Piano
Joan La Barbara: recorded voice
Larry Austin: "Ghost" electronics
CDCM Computer Music Series volume 14
1993 Centaur

Yeah, I've got a lot of LPD stuff, but nowhere near a full collection. I've probably got half of this album elsewhere, but I just fancied listening to some great pop songs, so I stuck a "best of.." on. Personally, I'm not as keen on the albums from this era, I prefer their earlier works, but the songs on this comp are all killer.
