The Residents - "The Warner Brothers Album" [Album]

Finally got my hands on this gem -- the legendary demo recording submitted by the as-of-then un-named artists to Warner Brothers Records in 1971; as I assume everyone knows, this is the recording that was returned to the "residents" of the return address they had provided with this demo, the rest being unverified history.

The Residents have often vocally condemned the work on this release as amateurish and underdeveloped, WB having done them right to reject the material; but honestly, I can’t say this is a huge departure from their future material, if a bit under-produced.

So far, I’m enjoying it—I’d give it a B+ for effort!

i'm working on a piece for 2 oboes, 2 trumpets, bass clarinet, piano, violin, cello. its kind of stravinsky-ish.

and i'm seeing slint tomorrow!! woo hoo. matmos is opening for them too, i'm really excited about the whole thing (spiderland being my all time favorite album)

Slint is still together? and them and Matmos in one show? damn, such a lucky person you are.
