its not so much the subject matter i dont like...but songs like "stuck in a moment" and "elevation" dont sound refined, creative, or all that meaningful to me. they just dont have what i love about u2. none of their old emotion. just pop tunes.

All That You Can't Leave Behind is a good album, maybe a great album. its not as good as many made it out to be throughout 2000-2001, but it is very good. some of the lyrics let me down in spots [which ibelieve ive pointed out earlier in the thread] but some of the lyrics are amazing ['Beautiful Day', 'Walk On', 'Kite', 'When I Look At The World', 'Stuck In A Moment That You Can't Get Out Of'...].

*Rattle & Hum is somewhat of a compilation as it includes some live material taken from earlier albums and singles.
*Original Soundtracks 1 was released under the name of Passengers, but is basically a U2 album that includes a heavier collaboration with Brian Eno.
there are basically two trains of thought on U2's best album, either The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby- itake Achtung Baby. some will make arguments for War or The Unforgettable Fire, but theyre wrong.

 ha nicely put. i agree tho. the joshua tree and achtung baby are undoubtedly their best albums

I don't get it. If "just pop tunes" is what you hear on this album, then I wish everybody in the whole damned business would get back to "just pop tunes".

sorry my mistake, i can't really call them just pop tunes because U2 will always be above that for me. but they just dont sound as sincere as theyre earlier stuff?
