There are really only 2 views when drugs in music is discussed.

1. Drugs are bad. period. A true artist should be able to make great music without any assistance.

2. They help. Beatles, Stones,Doors,Nirvana, this list is huge.

I lean towards 2 because Strawberry fields & i Am the walrus would not have been made otherwise.

opinions ?

What someone else chooses to put in their body should be no one else concern as long as they don't hurt anyone. I personally do not use drugs and never will, but I know people that do and I would much rather be around them than someone who is an alcoholic.

I don't think drugs make much difference. Frank Zappa said he never used drugs and look at the quality of his catalog. Creative people will make good music with or without drugs.

Ive been meaning to get some Zappa, havnt been exposed to much.
Ill elebotrate on my answer after a few more opinions, but I think it should be noted that I dont condone D's either, Cobain,Morrison & co were extiguished much too soon and there have been many exapmles of D's ruining artist - a couple of Oasis albums are testament to that.
But theres no denying Music (and many other areas) changed in the mid 60's, art in particular kinda flourished.
